Yenko means “Let’s go”
A car rental marketplace built in Ghana, for Ghana.
Why we built it
Across Ghana, thousands of good cars sit unused in driveways for most of the week. At the same time, someone needs a vehicle for a wedding in Kumasi, a contract in Takoradi, or a fortnight visiting family in Accra — and ends up negotiating in a WhatsApp group with a stranger, paying a deposit on trust, and hoping the car turns up.
That market works, more or less. It just works badly. There is no way to see what a car really costs, no way to know whether the owner is who they say they are, and no recourse when something goes wrong.
Yenko is the missing infrastructure. Verified owners, verified vehicles, transparent prices in cedis, and payment that is held securely rather than handed over in cash. Renters know what they are getting. Owners get paid.
What Yenko does
- Checks every listing
- Ghana Card, roadworthy certificate, and insurance document, reviewed before a car is visible to anyone.
- Handles the money
- Payment through Paystack in Ghana Cedis. Mobile Money, card, or bank transfer.
- Shows the whole price
- Daily rate and driver fee, itemised before you pay. No deposit, and no service fee. No number appears on this site that is not the number you are charged.
What we hold to
Trust before scale
No car appears on Yenko until a person has reviewed the owner, the vehicle, and its documents. We would rather have a small catalogue we can vouch for than a large one we cannot.
Owners are partners
Every rental sends money to a Ghanaian who owns that car. Yenko exists to make an idle asset productive, not to squeeze the people who supply it.
Built for how Ghana pays
Prices in cedis. Mobile Money first, because that is how most of the country pays. Pages that load on a patchy connection, on the phone you actually own.
